Description

The Shimadzu Prominence UFLC LC-20 Series provides a modular platform for liquid chromatography in research and quality control laboratories. This configuration includes an LC-20AD solvent delivery pump, CTO-20A column oven, RID-20A refractive index detector, a CBM-20A system controller, and a DGU-20A5R degasser. Together, these modules support applications requiring consistent solvent delivery, controlled column temperatures and refractive index detection.

The LC-20AD uses a parallel double-plunger design to deliver precise flow with low pulsation, helping maintain stable chromatographic conditions. Meanwhile, the CTO-20A column oven controls the column environment, reducing the effect of room temperature changes on retention times. Furthermore, the RID-20A detects differences in refractive index between the mobile phase and sample components. This makes it useful for analysing compounds with little or no UV absorbance, including sugars and some polymers. Its reference-cell auto-purge function also helps simplify preparation before analysis. Also included is a CBM-20A, which coordinates the connected modules and provides communication with compatible chromatography software. With appropriate columns and sample introduction equipment, this system offers a practical platform for routine analytical work and method development.

Completing the system is a DGU-20A5R online degasser, which removes dissolved gases from mobile phase solvents before they reach the pump. Its five independent flow lines allow multiple solvents to remain connected and degassed during operation. Membrane-based vacuum degassing helps prevent bubbles that can disrupt solvent delivery and cause detector baseline noise. This is particularly useful with the RID-20A, where changes in dissolved gas levels can affect baseline stability. By continuously treating the mobile phase, the DGU-20A5R supports consistent operation and repeatable chromatographic results.
