The AB SCIEX TOF/TOF 5800 Mass Spectrometer is a MALDI-Based Tandem Mass Spectrometer with unmatched speed and sensitivity. Perfect for identification and relative quantitation of proteins, this high performance system uses matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) to reduce fragmentation of large biomolecules.
Tandem sequencing allows for specific precursor ions to be isolated for sequence determination. A novel DynamicExit algorithm reduces acquisition time per spot, allowing this tandem system to operate more than 10 times faster than legacy instruments. To accelerate high-throughput proteomics and biomarker discovery, the OptiBeam laser sits in an on-axis configuration and achieves a repetition rate of 1 kHz. This high performance repetition rate doesn’t just speed up workflow but enables users to spatially map the distribution of biomolecules, drugs or metabolites in a tissue sample.
