Description
The Thermo Scientific iCAP Q ICP-MS is a quadrupole inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer configured for the analysis of inorganic elements and isotopes at ultra-trace concentrations. The system is paired with a Teledyne CETAC ASX-520 Autosampler to provide automated sample introduction. Consequently, key applications for this setup include environmental analysis, geochemistry, and pharmaceutical testing.
For interference management, the system features a proprietary QCell collision/reaction cell utilizing flatapole technology. Specifically, it employs Helium Kinetic Energy Discrimination (HeKED) mode to eliminate polyatomic and argon-based spectral interferences. As a result, the system can achieve exceptionally low detection limits even when processing complex sample matrices. The standard sample introduction setup accepts liquid samples via a nebuliser and temperature-controlled spray chamber. Furthermore, automation is managed by the accompanying CETAC ASX-520 Autosampler, which accommodates a four-rack tray configuration holding up to 360 samples, alongside 10 dedicated positions for calibration standards. Markedly, the autosampler features a metal-free, PEEK/PTFE liquid flow path to ensure maximum chemical resistance against corrosive matrices during long periods of unattended operation.
