Description

The NanoDrop 2000 from Thermo is used for quick and efficient quantitative analysis of nucleic acids and proteins. The instrument allows you to easily measure 0.5-2.0 µl samples with high accuracy and reproducibility. The smart sample retention system uses surface tension to hold the sample in place between two optical fibres. This enables the measurement of very highly concentrated samples with no need for dilutions. Naturally, this optimises lab time and reduces the risk of processing errors. Using this technology, the NanoDrop has the capability to measure high sample concentrations of up to 15,000 ng/µl. There is no need to use cuvettes or other sample holders. The sample is simply pipetted straight onto the stainless steel sample pedestal and then wiped away between measurements.
